Dholera is a massive, brand-new industrial city being built from the ground up about 90 kilometers from Ahmedabad. To make this huge project possible, the Government of Gujarat passed a special law called the Special Investment Region Act in 2009. This law led to the creation of DSIRDA, a powerful authority with the specific job of planning and developing this entire region, including managing all the government land within it.
 

To turn these plans into reality, a special partnership was formed. The central government of India and the state government of Gujarat joined forces to create a dedicated implementation company called Dholera Industrial City Development Limited (DICDL). This company works under the guidance of a larger national body, the DMICDC, which was established to drive the entire Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor project, of which Dholera is a key part.

The sheer scale of Dholera is astounding. The development will cover a vast area of 920 square kilometers, which is even larger than the existing city of Ahmedabad. This land encompasses 22 villages in the Dholera area and enjoys a strategic location right in the middle of major industrial hubs like Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, and Bhavnagar, making it a natural center for commerce and industry.
 

This will be much more than just a collection of factories. Dholera is designed to be a complete, self-sufficient city. It will have its own economic engine driven by advanced industries, supported by top-tier utilities and logistics networks. Crucially, it will also be a full-fledged community with all the necessary social infrastructure, including schools, hospitals, and public amenities for the people who will live and work there.
 

The ultimate vision for Dholera is to create a modern, balanced city for the future. With support from both state and national levels, the goal is to build a settlement with world-class infrastructure that offers an exceptional quality of life. This new-age city is planned with sustainability at its core, featuring efficient local transportation and excellent connectivity to the rest of the region and the country.
